Monotypes are often called the painterly print. This is a really accessible printmaking technique which is perfect for beginners. Explore colour, mark making and create images with atmosphere simply from the magic of ink, paper and pressure.M
We will work with different ink types, paper options and try a few different approaches to making a monotype.
No previous experience is required and reference imagery will be available - although please feel free to bring your own.
You will leave with:
a variety of approaches to monotype
knowledge of suitable papers to use
various examples of your handmade art work
notes, links and tips
some new creative friends
All tools and materials supplied. Light refreshments provided.
Bio
Exploring the endlessly fascinating and varied medium of printmaking for over 30 years, Kyla relishes the opportunity to introduce it to others through her Little Prints Printmaking workshops. Kyla’s background includes directing a works on paper gallery, art curation, tutoring and other work in the arts sector. Working from her home studio in Ōtepoti Dunedin, Kyla’s practice encompasses drypoint, mezzotint and embossing.
