Introduction to Ink Making

Introduction to ink making - what goes into an ink? Technical, cultural and environmental considerations.

Learn traditional recipes (and short cuts!)

Covers 3x historic drawing inks which we’ll make in class: Carbon black, Oak gall, Walnut brown.

You’ll get to take away samples of these three inks, along with the recipes and class notes.

Tutor bio Katharine Allard is an Ōtepoti Dunedin based artist with over twenty years experience exhibiting, curating, teaching and arts management. Katharine specialises in drawing botanical and landscape works in metal point and spends a lot of time experimenting with historic and contemporary artist materials in her home studio.

Ages 16+

max 6 participants (min 2)

A 90% refund can be obtained if you cancel 7 days or more from the course, re-booking alternative courses and refunds will be negotiated individually after that.
