Introduction to Embossing 10am - 1pm (3 hours)
$95 per person
Optional extended supported print session 2- 4pm or 6-8 pm. (2 hours)
$50 + small paper fee
Maximum 8 participants
In this 3 hour class you will be introduced to the printmaking technique of embossing. You will hand carve your own block and explore the beautiful, subtle art of embossing paper with the aid of an etching press. Learn how you can combine this with colour, which tools to use, trouble shooting tips and how this differs to debossing. Design your embossed print alongside fellow makers at the wonderful creative hub of Among the Sparrows.
All materials and tools are supplied and you will take home your block and printed embossings. You will be given class handouts on the process and a list of suppliers.
Morning tea will be provided, BYO lunch between classes or pop over the road to Blacks Rd Greengrocer or Hana Japanese!
There is an optional extended or supported session from 2 - 4pm (2 hours). For anyone who has done an embossing workshop and wants to explore further, make more prints, work on a project….Participants in this extended session will have some paper provided, with extra sheets available for purchase.
Kyla Cresswell is an Ōtepoti Dunedin based artist who has a love of intaglio printmaking techniques and the rich and varied processes of this discipline.
